Choose a path through sharp rocks that minimizes
contact with the tire sidewall against sharp rock
edges.
Good axle articulation Can make descents
over difficult trail sections much easier.
Disconnect sway bars if possible.
Even moderate descents can create a lot of
momentum. It is better to use a lower gear than to
over use the brakes.
You need to know what is on the back side of a
climb before reaching the crest.  Here the trail
makes a turn, which cannot be seen as you
approach the crest.
If in doubt about the best path, get out and take a
look, Use a spotter to guide you.
Descending into a water crossing is tricky. Make
sure your path allows adequate ground clearance
over rocks under the water surface. Maintain a
steady speed.
