Our First mini-JEEP
PATROL Trail Drive is
coming on Saturday,
March 12
We pre-ran our route yesterday with a stock
Cherokee XJ with no problems. There are a couple
of tricky sections, but any stock 4x4 or SUV (not
lowered) will be fine. We'll have lots of fully
equipped rigs and experienced spotters on the run
if needed. We will have an alternate meeting spot
for those not wanting to come to Big Bear and then
drive back down to Landers where the trail begins.
Meet at the intersection of Highway 247 (Old
Woman Springs Rd.) and New Dixie Mine Rd. in
Landers. New Dixie Mine Rd. is on the west side of
Landers. Look for yellow sign indicating the road.
There are also signs for the Calvary Chapel
Landers on New Dixie Mine Rd. For those coming
to or starting from Big Bear, we will still meet at the
Subway shop by K-Mart. We should leave by 9:15
(we originally posted leaving at 9:30) so we can be
on the trail by 10:00 AM. We'll be on CB Channel 22.
We will have Jeep Patrol tee shirts from the last
event plus caps, water bottles and video for sale.
More Thursday. The t-shirts are the ones that are
the wrong color so we will sell them for $5 each or
give you one if buy a book or DVD for $20. Caps
are $10 and water bottles are $3.
Also the Frontier Lodge is offering a 15% discount
for lodging if you're planning to stay in Big Bear.

The Route for 3-12 Mini Jeep Patrol running from Landers on
the east to Highway 38 on the west. Will pass near the marker
for Willie Boy (you'll hear the story Saturday and some great
areas, including the cabin at Viscera Springs slated for
removal. This is an easy drive with a few tricky but easy spots.
New Dixie Mine Rd. over to Rattlesnake Canyon. This long
climb is the toughest part of run, but we did it on 3-9-11 with a
stock Cherokee XJ with no problems!
